ANALYSES AND REPORTS




The percentage of Polish entrepreneurs who plan to increase the employment is still higher then of those expecting reductions. The majority of companies expects no change in the level of employment.
Of the 750 Polish employers surveyed 14 percent expect to add to their workforces in the coming quarter, 11 percent plan reductions and 71 percent expect no change in payrolls in the January-March time frame.
The strongest optimism for 1st quarter of 2012 is reported by employers from the Transport, Storage & Communication and Finance & Business Services industry sectors. Job seekers in the Construction (+8%) industry sector may also expect some offers in the quarter ahead; the Outlook declines slightly from previous quarter, but improves from Q1 2011 by 8 percentage points, suggesting employers may be moderately more confident in their ability to justify adding to their payrolls compared to last winter season.
Regional Outlooks are modest and indicate the first-quarter hiring pace will slow. Positive hiring intentions are reported in five of the six regions. The strongest regional Outlook is reported in the South region (+7%). (Manpower Group)


According to HSBC Global Research Poland offers the cheapest equities in the CEE.
The authors of HSBC report “Mispriced. CEEMEA equity projections” find Polish valuations among the cheapest on emerging markets what bears testimony to its attractiveness and great investment opportunities compared to the rest of Europe.
Furthermore, the HSBC’s experts note relatively good macroeconomic data: remarkably steady growth, inflation and interest rates under control.
Valuations are attractive by historical standards, and both domestic and foreign liquidity could provide support.
In 2011 EPS (Earning per Share) growth is 27,7%, while the forecasts for EMEA is 20,5%, and for emerging markets 10,4%.
Our key overweights are Russia, Turkey and Poland - the HSBC’s analysts report - we are reducing Hungary to neutral. Czech and Egypt stay neutral(HSBC)

Why Poland?


Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency in co-operation with PwC consulting company released second edition of Why Poland - guide for foreign investors.
The publication presents Poland as an ideal location for investments pointing out country’s economic stability, educated people, strategic location and investment incentives. It includes also the information on Poland’s strategic sectors - e.g. automotive, BPO, aviation, IT, electronics and R&D.

Investor at the Kraków Technology Park increases employment


Ericpol Telecom a company active in the Park launches a new recruitment process and plans to hire 250 persons over the next few months.
This year the company has hired over 200 engineers but the demand on Polish specialist has been growing. By the end of 2012 the company will hire experienced programmers, analysts, testers and graduates of IT and electronic faculties. Due to the fact that future Ericpol Telecom employees will have to cooperate with international teams, the employees have to know English.
Ericpol is the biggest Polish IT exporter and provider of outsourcing and consulting services. The company has production centers in Belarus, Ukraine and Sweden. At the moment Ericpol hires 1200 people. (KPT)

Financial Times
On November 2nd, 2011 Financial Times issued a special report “Investing in Poland” . The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency cooperated with the Financial Times in the field of Poland's promotion in the report.
The report which provides useful information concerning investment conditions in Poland has been issued by FT for several years now.
This year PAIiIZ like in previous editions of the report cooperated with FT.
We helped publish a text Poland: A haven for investors by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Mr Waldemar Pawlak.

Teleyard to create 1000 new jobs in Szczecin


In order to proceed with the project in Szczecin Teleskop, a company that has been operating in Poland for over 10 years, will establish a new entity - Teleyard. At the moment Teleskop, in its plants in Kostrzyn on Odrą, employs here 840 persons.
In Szczecin the investor plans to create a modern, European-standard production plant, similar to the Kostrzyn shop floors owned by Teleskop. In order to satisfy needs of its most important clients: Liebherr, Cargotec, Terex and Deme Dreadging, Teleyard is going to manufacture big, over-sized elements and subassemblies of the steel constructions. For these companies Teleskop produces crane and container-crane elements and the devices to dredgers.
Access to the sea is of substantial importance for the realization of the project. Since September 2010 the company has been operating on the area of the Szczecin Shipyard Nowa, where 70 welders are employed. So far around PLN 1 million was invested in order to adopt the shipyard shop floors.
The company declared to contract 100 new employees next year and in four years time - another 300. In 2020 the employment should reach the declared level of 1000 full-time jobs. This is the biggest investment project run in Szczecin in recent years. The investor has already proven to be a reliable employer in Poland.
The Marshal Olgierd Gablewicz has mentioned, that the development plans of the company are closely related to the cooperation with Cargotec, a company which operates in Starogard Szczeciński -The Cargotec project is developing exactly the way we expected. It is not only a big project itself, but it also attracts smaller but also big suppliers.

Investment projects supported by PAIiIZ


July 29th, 2011: the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency supports 169 investment projects. The most numerous are projects from the USA.

The value of the projects currently supported by PAIiIZ totals EUR 6.33 billion and the number of jobs which may be generated by the projects reaches 47141.
American projects - 38 which are jointly worth EUR 1.2 billion - form the most numerous group in the Agency’s investment portfolio and are followed by investments from the UK - 18 projects worth over EUR 355 million with potential 6158 new jobs, and China - 13 projects worth over EUR 234 million and 2831 potential jobs.
Among the most active investors there are also entrepreneurs from Germany and South Korea (11 projects each)  and Japan (10 projects).
The automotive sector with 29 projects worth EUR 2244 million and the prospect of creating 14083 jobs, still enjoys the limelight.
The second most popular is the BPO sector (28 projects worth EUR 40 million and 9631 jobs), followed by the machine sector (16 projects worth over EUR 704 million and 3661 jobs), ICT (10 projects), the chemical industry and R&D.
This year PAIiIZ successfully closed negotiations concerning 28 investment projects in which foregin enterprises will invest in Poland EUR 854 million and will generate 7014 jobs. (PAIiIZ)

Investments in Poland


Korean Mando decided to invest PLN 390 mln in the Wałbrzych zone. 
On July 6th, 2011 the company was granted a business activity permission to operate within the Wałbrzych SEZ and bought a 13 ha plot on which the concern wants this year to start building its factory. The investing company declared that it will have invested PLN 390 million and employed 280 people by the end of 2015. In Poland the company plans to manufacture braking systems, steering column, traction control systems and shock absorbers.
The company employs over 3.5 thousand. people all over the world and has factories in Korea, China, Malaysia, Turkey, India and the USA. Mando is a supplier of companies like GM, Ford and DaimlerChrisler.
Mando is the 10th investor who decided to develop business in the Wałbrzych SEZ. This year the companies decided to jointly invest PLN 800 million in projects which are estimated to generate 700 jobs. (Wałbrzyska SEZ)





The company will hire 40 specialist in investment design and implementation
DP CLEAN TECH provides solutions for biomass power plants in the rapidly growing renewable energy industry. It provides solutions that convert incinerated waste in water vapour what produces energy and heat. DP Clean Tech Poland specializes in the production of boilers for biomass and municipal wastes incineration. This year the activity of DP Clean Tech Poland will be expanded and will include design and engineering in the Poland-based office which will be located in Auro Business Park in Gliwice. - Seeking a location for our new project, we focused on the region of Silesia due to the availability of highly educated workers. Silesian University of Technology has been educating specialists in the field of thermal energy for many years and among its graduates we are going to recruit the majority of our staff - says Stephen Gasior, Director General at DP Clean Tech Poland.
The company will occupy 460 m2 of modern office space in the AURO Business Park complex, which is part of the Katowice Special Economic Zone. 
DP Clean Tech Poland was established in 2006, its headquarters and manufacturing facility are located in Jędrzejów. A brand new production hall of 2 500 2 was opened in 2009. Fortune classified Poland’s capital among the 15 best new cities for business!



Looking for smart labor, solid infrastructure, and potential customers? Go for Warsaw!
Fortune spoke to corporate and economic development executives and created a map of the best business destinations. The age and the prosperity of the locals result to be one of the major factors which attract corporations. In this context Warsaw with its 300,000 students does not have any problems with providing young, enthusiastic and educated staff. Moreover, the ranking emphasized Warsaw's attractive labour and real estate costs as well as availability of government-backed business loans.

Authors stressed also the city’s attractive location in the centre of Europe. Interestingly enough, the ranking focused also on the fact that parks and greenspace still constitute 10% of the dynamically developing city’s area what makes the capital “green” downtown a world leader in this respect. ICEX i PAIiIZ signed a Memorandum of Understanding


The two-day Polish-Spanish Forum for Investment and Business Cooperation was inaugurated by representatives of both countries: the Deputy Minister of Economy Grażyna Henclewska, Ambassador of Spain in Poland Francisco Fernandez-Fabregas, the PAIiIZ President Sławomir Majman and the Deputy President of the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade ICEX Fernando Salazar.
Ambassador Fernández-Fabregas indicated Spain’s openness to expand trade relationships with Poland and drew attention to the changing image of the country - Historical relations and events tended to classify Poland as the east of Europe. And yet this country has always been situated in the middle of the continent, has always been a fully European country and always will be - the Ambassador stressed.

The PAIiIZ and ICEX Cooperation Agreement was signed by the PAIiIZ President Sławomir Majamn and the Deputy President of ICEX Fernando Salazar


President Sławomir Majman in his speech encouraged Spanish companies to explore the Polish market and the new Polish society. - International research and surveys show that we are people of common sense and optimism. This translates into what economic conditions we create in Poland for the development of both domestic and international business. We have political and economic stability, dynamic growth, excellent human resources and huge European funds to be used, available also to foreign investors who decide to run projects in Poland - emphasized President Majman. He also informed that Spanish companies, which have so far invested in Poland a total of EUR4 billion, mainly go for projects in infrastructure, production of equipment for the production of renewable energy as well as automotive and BPO sector.
Fernando Salazar the Deputy President of ICEX focused on the need to intensify trade and investment relations between Poland and Spain. He mentioned some of the key sectors which offer most business opportunities to Spanish investors: infrastructure, railway and aviation sectors as well as projects connected with the production of wind energy. - Spanish companies have the know-how and capital. We can adapt to local market and we have much experience on international markets. And here in Poland, in many fields, such as tax law, we feel like at home - said the deputy President of ICEX.
